What is heart-based consciousness?

Heart-based consciousness is a transformative way of understanding our daily life experiences. Many are the forces around us influencing our decisions, triggering our emotions, and structuring our thinking patterns. Conflicts with others emerge now and then almost unavoidably and fixations on thoughts follows as riverbanks after the waterfall, redirecting our mood, words, and actions.

Heart-based consciousness can be translated as a paradigm for how to react and deal with these daily challenges. Simply said, the idea is to literally act based on what the heart is “telling”, always. This means that regardless of how troubled the situation may seem, there is a way of redefining it by looking at it from a more empathetic perspective, or through the prism of affinity to the other’s pain.

Since we all live through painful situations in this world, one way of sowing more loving-like experiences is first letting go of conflict by being sympathetic and respectful with one another’s inner battles. This requires being invariably immerse in compassion and understanding for human limitations. In finding the certainty that there is a place within oneself that is never disturbed from any outside force, because nothing in this world has the power to move one away from his/her center. In fact, in finding the courage to access, accept and heal our hidden emotional wounds, one will realize that there is nothing wrong with this world at all.

The issue is the unwise and individualistic pattern that we learned to adopt when managing our relationships. Taking a step back and placing consciously one’s heart in front of the need to accuse the other or to submit him to one’s opinion or will is the beginning of the path to heart-based consciousness. Your heart is your guide. The focus must lie entirely on ending whichever fight is going on with whoever he or she may be and creating space for harmony.

The goal here is not to convince anyone that heart-based consciousness is something that can simply be turned on from now on. The art of living fully heart-based requires practice. It demands the continuous and progressive tuning of the being in first becoming free from hurtful mental and social patterns. It is possible to say that the cornerstone for building such a consciousness has as fundamental property the need for ending suffering and finding the true expression of oneself.

The path leading to heart-based consciousness is challenging, because it comprises the willingness to get in touch with deeply buried emotional wounds. This is part of the healing process that must take place. However, the reward at the end of the path is becoming naturally aware of how to captivate constructive relationships rooted in self-love and forgiveness.
